lmtools is not a software that is installed. It is a simple .exe shell used to configure lmgrd-based licensing services. Opening any copy of lmtools should show the same list of lmgrd-based license services installed on the server.

While lmtools does not actually get installed, it is probably best to use a version of lmtools that matches the same version of the lmgrd you will use to configure a particular service. For this reason, for FlexSim's purposes, you should use the same lmtools.exe that FlexSim offers for download along with all our other license server files.

Here is a link to a simpler/smaller download for lmtools-only installations (no lmadmin):

https://cloud.flexsim.com/index.php/s/SRbjgsNcPmhcnCM

This download includes folders for 32-bit and 64-bit servers. Each folder contains everything needed to configure a lmtools-based license server for FlexSim. You need to make sure to run the chosen 32-bit or 64-bit version of flexsimserveractutil.exe and go to Tools > Licensing Service > Install Anchor Service to make sure that the proper FlexNet Licensing Service gets installed.

The flexsimLF_lmtools.lic license file in these folders has custom ports specified: 26914 for lmgrd and 56914 for the flexsim vendor daemon. Make sure both of those ports are open for communication between client PCs and your license server. You can customize/change the port numbers in that .lic file, if you wish.

When you license FlexSim client PCs, using the "single user client PC" method (page 23), be sure to use the proper port number, like: 26914@<ip address or domain name>. If you license your client PCs using the license file method (licensing a multi-user client PC, page 24), make sure to use the same port numbers in your client PC license files as you did in the license server's license files.

Comment back if you have any questions.
