Save 3D-Shape in new size

Hi!

I've imported 3rd Party Shapes (.stp) into my FlexSim-Model but they are way too big.
Now when I change the size of the shape, it does not apply to all items using this shape. Is there a way to save a 3D-step-file in a desired size in FlexSim? I do not own any other CAD-Programs where I could edit those...

Thanks in advance!

In a licensed version you can use the tool Edit Selected Object of the View main menu bar. You find the tool in the Quick Properties pane on the right.

You select all objects, you want to get the changed shape factors (red wireframe). You highlight the object with changed factors (yellow wireframe). You hit the button Visuals and Shape Factors

Maybe otherwise you copy simply the values of the adjusted shape factors to the other objects where you use the same shape again.

 offsetsx(newObj).value = offsetsx(adjustedObj).value;

I figured, that this takes way too much CPU and Graphics-Power. Anybody else experiencing the same issue?

Furthermore, to import the 3D-Shapes, I just simply put the desired 3D-Shape on top of a processor or something. After that, the new 3D-Shape was imported into the library of this project in FlexSim. Not the best way, but surely the easiest. Probably, the project would cause an error if shared with another person.

@dominik.k, your comment contains exactly two new questions:

  1. how to reduce power consumption of larger shapes in a model?
  2. how to include media in FlexSim model files?

1 - Is an own chapter in the manual creating and importing custom 3D objects. As you told, you haven’t got a graphic program. Perhaps you look for one, try it out and think about to buy it then. For example AC3D by inivis. There are some tutorials here to adjust materials to be used as own color setting from within FlexSim. Perhaps those tutorials went back to the archive.flexsim.com. There you find threads of the old FlexSim community forum.

2 - Please check, if you have activated Embed Media with Model in Modell Settings.

Well, despite the power consumption I am more concerned by the computing power it takes to display and simulate the model with my taken changes on the 3D-Shapes. It mostly says "no respond" and my computer starts to breathe heavily.

Yes, the embedded Media with Model is activated.

I will have to continue the simulation with basic boxes I assume...
