I worked on your example model that used process flow.
The first part of the process flow controls the boxes and the second part is for the vertical conveyor.
The boxes are stopped at the end of the first conveyor and the closest available vertical rack is selected from the list. The box is then moved to the vertical rack. Once the box has reached the second decision point it is moved to the second conveyor and the rack is pushed back to the list to be used again.
