Make the Software Version more visible in questions

It would be nice if we could make the Software Version visible when viewing a question so that it is easier to know how to answer a question. To help make sure that the version is correct maybe we could have the version default to some sort of NULL value that would need to be set before the question could be posted.

This would make it much easier for those trying to help to:

  • Open attached models in the correct version of the software
  • Give answers appropriate to the version being used (i.e. HC, CT, Standard, etc.)

When posting a question, specifying the software version is a required field.

The problem you're getting at is that whatever software version the OP enters, it isn't actually visible from the posted question. Moderators can see the version selection, but only if they edit the question.

@Paul Toone Do you know if this is something that we have the power to change - to show custom fields in the post view? If not, would it be best to suggest an idea to AnswerHub to get a feature added?

We're going to look into AnswerHub's REST API to see if we can auto-tag questions with the version chosen by the OP.
