What is the best file format for custom objects?

Hello,

I would like to ask what is the best file type if I would like to import a custom object? I saw some threads regarding 3ds or Blender with some errors with no importing shapes so that is the reason why I am asking which file type is preferred and supported.

Thanks in advance.

I think this is going to depend on what toolchain you have available, since not all tools that export with the same extension have the same exporter quality or version, which results in different results for the same file type.

I would avoid .stp (step) files at the moment and my overall preference is .fbx. If those are not available you can try .3ds and .ac if you have AC3D.
