Emulation using PLC

I want to connect FlexSim model to a PLC, Is it possible to make the PLC enter the values of both Inputs and Outputs meaning I want the values of the inputs and outputs in the FlexSim model be determined by the PLC I do not want to make a bidirectional connection between the two just unidirectional connection between the PLC and the FlexSim model so the FlexSim model will just read the PLC and not write to the PLC?

How will the PLC know the state of FlexSim by which to control it?
