Problems with the in-software license upgrade

@Ben Wilson We have problems with the in-software license upgrade. I know there where problems in the past (Upgrade crashes FlexSim) but myself and some of my colleagues have problems. Not only with 2023 but also with 2022 and earlier. If you do an in-software upgrade it takes a long time, say 20-30 seconds before it starts and then it keeps stating: 9 Polling for response, 10 Waiting for response and it doesn't stop and the only way to exit FlexSim is by using the taskmanager. I know that I can return the license and do the upgrade on the website but do you know why this doesn't work?

If the in-software license upgrade fails, the solution is to manually complete the 3 steps:

  1. Return the licenses you intend to upgrade
  2. Upgrade your licenses
  3. Activate the upgraded licenses

These steps are outlined in more detail in our article Standalone - Upgrading your license - FlexSim Community.

The in-software upgrade needs to be re-architected to work better for older accounts that now have many years' worth of license upgrades. For newer clients with few license upgrades the in-software upgrade still works fine, but for older accounts with many years' worth of license upgrades, the process is no longer efficient.

We'll be addressing this issue soon so that the in-software upgrade process will become speedy for all accounts, new and old, in the near future.
