Property Window Not Updating For Child Objects In FlowItemBin

Hi,

We were trying to change the visuals of a child object which is stored under a flow item object. But the property window is not updating when we select the child object. Is this by design or a bug?

In order to change the visual, we had to select the object from the treenode view and change it or by using the axis.

When you don't want to change child item visual , it is design. But you are trying to change it from property window but can't , now it is bug... I think.

You have to say, you are doing this in a flowitem bin tool! Typically if you highlight an object there and you click on any associated member of an object you mark the parent flowitem. This is a feature. If you want to add drawsurrogate objects, you do this in animation creator editor environment. Then you update values of highlighted components and click into the workspace or a different matrix field to achieve an update visually. Composing of several items together in a subnode structure need at least a treenode action inside flowitem bin tool treenode view. Then you have already left the path of ordinary adding of flowitems. If you then expects that the common procedures apply to such circumstances is from my point of view ambitious.

The Flowitem Bin's properties are focused on the highlighted flowitem from the listbox on the left side of the UI. This enables the properties to be edited without an extra click to highlight the 3D shape in the preview window.

If you want to add sub-components to your flowitem, you should right-click it and select Animations... to open the Animations and Components window to add a sub-structure to the flowitem. Flowitems aren't designed to be a whole tree structure of objects; they can have content statistics and packing/unpacking or loading/unloading based on their tree structure. You really should use the Animations and Components window to add sub-components to a flowitem as surrogate components and not put the sub-objects directly into it as child subnodes.
