union of parts

Hey guys! Hope all is well with you.

Well, I'm using the Combiner that needs to join 1 unit from Queue 1 + 1 unit from Queue 2 so that the Product is sent to the output, but as you can see in the image it's only considering Port 2. How can I solve it?

Hi @Bruno Almeida! Like Joerg said, the combiner automatically takes an item from port 1 (it has to be a pallet or a tote) but if you want to do something different there are lots of examples on this site on how to customize combining like this one:

https://answers.flexsim.com/articles/133869/example-model-opportunistic-combiner-process-no-po.html

If you don't want to put something on a pallet or a tote it might be worth researching it on this site. There are lots of people who have asked the same question.

@Julie Weller, I am sorry, but first item can be a tote and pallet, because they support by default a packaging node function. But any item is allowed to enter a combiner by port one. It needs some effort to place next items inside a standard first item.

That's fair, it's just not recommended

When running the simulation, the ones after the queue are not being merged but placed separately.

You're going to have to supply more information than that picture. The model or pictures of how the model is now configured.

Because port one is a default port to collect a container item. One item is always entering through port one. And it it only one item.

How can I fix this?

Joerg Vogel avatar image Joerg Vogel Bruno Almeida commented ·

@Bruno Almeida, what do you want to fix? It is a default permanent active behavior. First item of port 1 is needed for a combiner. And it the only item a combiner can work with from input port one!

Edit: perhaps it is getting more obvious, if you read about this object in the reference manual.

The combiner needs to put together an item from Row 1 + an item from Row 2. So is that right?
