I was hoping to re-use an older model that we had completed for a client on a new project. These models were done in 2009. When I open them, there is nothing there. What can I do?

The first thing to do after opening the model in FlexSim 2016 would be to reopen the default workspace via main menu > View > Open Default Workspace.
Next, if there are objects that do not show, were they were using custom 3D shapes? Back in 2009 I don't think that 3D media was packaged into the .fsm model file - they were external to the model file, so you will need to be sure that you have those files.
Beyond those general steps, we'd have to look more specifically at your model itself.
