limit where a LAN based OptQuest license is assigned

We have a 3-seat FlexSim LAN license and an additional 1-seat LAN license for Optquest.

Given this setup, our team encounters the following problem:

By default the Optquest license goes to the first active FlexSim seat. However, somebody else may need to use Optquest, but it won't be available since it will be with the first person to have started FlexSim.

Is there a way to bypass this auto-assignment of the Optquest seat to first active FlexSim seat?

You can modify your FlexSim installation to only checkout the licenses that you want.

Open the License Activation window (main menu, Help>License Activation). Navigate to the License Server tab.

The default behavior, as you've noticed, is for FlexSim to try to take any and all features from the license server that it can. You can limit this behavior by checking the box for "Only checkout features for license type:". This allows you then to limit what kind of license you want (Enterprise vs Runtime, etc.), and also will, by default, block OptQuest.

I suggest that all your FlexSim users check the box for "Only checkout features...", but do not check the box for "Checkout optquest feature". When one of your users needs OptQuest, she should come to this window, check the box for OptQuest, then press "Apply Configuration". FlexSim will contact the license server and attempt to activate the OptQuest seat.

Just make sure that when the user has finished using OptQuest that she unchecks the OptQuest box and applies the configuration so she doesn't start getting OptQuest every time.
