Installation

Good afternoon,

We made the successful installation of the FlexSim license on the server and the software works correctly, appears Educational, Optquest upon login. But when trying to connect with customers has not been possible, continues to appear express.

When pinging with the administrator responds satisfactorily, we do not know where the error may be.

Hi @vatic.group,

You probably are already aware of the various Troubleshooting suggestions in the final section of the License Server Installation Instructions. Did you perform the various connectivity tests besides the ping test? For instance:

  • telnet allows you to connect to the actual lmadmin port. Is it able to connect to your license server from a client PC?
  • did you disable firewalls for a quick connectivity test?
  • did you disable antivirus for a quick connectivity test?

Also, have you looked at the vendor daemon logs? The License Server Installation Instructions show how to access the vendor daemon logs for both lmadmin and lmtools within the Troubleshooting section Server configuration or license issues, point Seats all in use.

One of the things you may see in the vendor daemon logs is features being activated, but then immediately returned. This is a symptom of having an older version of the FlexNet Licensing Service. You need to make sure that the FlexNet Licensing Service is up to date. See the section Up-to-date licensing service in this previous answer:

One short quick test that you can perform is install FlexSim in the server and see if you can activate FlexSim in the server, as a "PC's client". If so, your server instalation is fine and you probably might have problem with PC's client connection. On the other hand, as @Ben Wilson comments above, you should make sure that the FlexNet Licensing Service is up do date. It happended with a customer in Brazil recently, but once we updated FlexNet, PROBLEM SOLVED.
