Hi @Elisabeth Sestili,

Bugfix releases within the same x.y release family should not affect model compatibility. In other words, you should be able to open any model saved in any version of 17.1 with any other 17.1.x version of FlexSim. If you are having problems doing so with a particular model, can you share the model with us? Perhaps there is some issue we need to troubleshoot.

That said, FlexSim is not able to save to older versions in a different major.minor release family. For instance, if you have been building a model using FlexSim 17.1.6, you will not be able to open the model in 17.0.x. And unfortunately there is no compatibility-save that enables a model to be opened with an older version of the software.

Such a "compatibility save" would be nice though. It does not even have to detect all the features that are (not) available in that version - occasionally it would already help if one could just try to open the model in the older version just to copy out some data or manually remove some nodes corresponding to newer features.

If you have a backup copy of the model in whatever version, you could always download that version from your account download page, if you don't have it installed. Then you can open it and do whatever you need to do, including saving it to a newer version. Does that help at all?

And of course you can always load a model as *.t file in any version of the software. To do so, I typically create a new node in the Tools folder of a new model (click on last node in the Tools folder and hit space bar), then right-click the new node you just created, and choose Node > Load Into Node... context menu option. By default the open file dialog window is looking for *.t files, so to see your model file type in *.fsm and hit enter.
