A decision point is a single point. It isn't an area with "parts." The center of its symbol is the point.

When the specified edge of an item arrives at that point, it fires the On Arrival event. When the specified edge of an item leaves that point, it fires the On Continue event.

Decision points can be anywhere on the conveyor system. "How close" can be 0.

@michael.smith

What you want to know about decision point behaviour, when the flow item arrives DP, On Arrival trigger fire and next when leave the DP, On Continue trigger fires. Is that your question?

I am not sure of your meaning of 'conveyor join' but if it means joining for branching or sorting, the decision point location should not be over the center line of the joined conveyor.
