Hi @Pablo Concha,

Please check out this Q&A and let us know if installing .NET 3.5 solves the problem.

@Pablo Concha,

You may need to reboot after installing .NET 3.5.

Below the .NET answer at the previous link, @phil.bobo suggested visiting a 2nd Q&A with info on manually registering the OptQuest DLL.

Let us know if the DLL suggestions solve the problem.

@Ben Wilson ,

I tried registering manually the file as they said in the Q&A with this command

%WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe .\comoptquest.dll

but that is registering the .dll only with that version of .NET ?... i checked and there is no regasm.exe on the 3.5 .net folder... still showing the same problem.

@Pablo Concha,

  • Did you open the command line using "Run as Administrator"?
  • Were you sure to cd to the install directory of FlexSim HC 5.3.6, rather than the FlexSim 17.1 folder shown in that example?

If those suggestions don't change anything, you might also try the following:

  1. uninstall FlexSim HC 5.3.6
  2. reboot
  3. download a new copy of the installer
  4. right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"

It's possible that the initial install didn't have high enough privileges to install/register the DLL.

@phil.bobo, any other ideas?

@Ben Wilson

Yes i ran it as admin. Yes it was the right directory.

I'll try later reinstalling Flexsim and let you know. Thanks for your help!

@Ben Wilson

Hi, sorry on the late response, but i was caught up with work. Recently tried again reinstalling flexsim and followed instructions to install .net and registering manually the .dll, but i keep getting the same error. Also, that was on a colleague computer, but recently i formatted my conputer and installed windows 10 and i'm getting the same problem with optquest.

regards

Pablo

Hi @Pablo Concha,

I'll just sum up the things that should be tried. If you have already done all these, then we probably need to do a web meeting where one of our developers can try things on your computer.

  1. .NET framework 3.5 should be manually installed.
  2. Install the latest Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
  3. Update and Patch your Windows 10 OS with all the latest operating system patches and updates.
  4. Probably a good time to reboot.
  5. Install FlexSim HC with admin privileges to allow it to register all applicable DLLs and components.
  6. License FlexSim HC and OptQuest. In FlexSim, from the License Activation window, View Licenses to ensure that the HC and OptQuest licenses are enabled, fully trusted, and greater than or equal to the version of FlexSim HC installed. If your license is hosted on a license server, you will need to View Licenses on the server to check these things.
  7. Test OptQuest to determine its working status.
  8. You could try again manually registering the OptQuest DLL using a command prompt with admin privileges, as described in comments above.

If we need to do a web meeting, we can arrange that for next week since FlexSim US is on holiday for the rest of the week for Thanksgiving.

Hi @Ben Wilson,

Started fresh again following the steps and it worked. Don't know what step i missed before, but it was not necessary to register manually the dlls.

thanks for the help!,
