I was wondering if there is a way to simulate parking and patients car flow, we are designing a new parking structure and will be offering valet parking as well? so what to simulate the impact on traffic and parking needs? are run different route options
A simplified model using Item flow objects (eg. car = item) is what I would suggest. All you would need is an arrival rate of cars, a percent who will use valet, a valet capacity (ie. number of valet attendants), a turnaround time for the valet process, two garage capacities (one for general, one for valet parking), and a stay time distribution for the time cars will dwell in the garage before wanting to leave. This information shouldn't be too difficult to hunt down and you can even use some educated guesses to get started and conduct a sensitivity analysis to determine the capabilities of the valet and garage under varying circumstances.
