Will flexsim express affect performance? Very laggy, keeps crashing

automation-track-in-min-ml-40.fsm

I built a conveyor model on my pc that is quite large. i can run it up to about 3,000 items on the conveyor before my pc freezes. so i transferred the model to a much better pc. I9-9900X 128gb DDR4 ram gtx1080TI running flexsim express and i can only get to less than 1,000 items before it crashes. any recommendations for getting this model to run? i can only make it about 3 hours in to a 30 day simulation. is my model simply too big?

The reason your model is slowing down and crashing is because of the 3D models you have for your White Rack, Vial, Tote, Cart and Black Rack. It is trying to render thousands of items that have a lot of geometry to them. You will notice if you open another window, say the flow item bin or a table window so the 3D window is not showing and run your model it works fine, but as soon as it tries to render all the shapes it will crash. Try finding more simple geometry 3D shapes or use boxes for now, the visuals of an object won't change your simulation results as long as they are the same dimensions as your object.

i didnt think about that. ill swap them out for boxes. Thank you!

i swapped out everything for boxes with the same color and dimension and its running great, and still looks just as good. Thanks again.

For future reference and to expound on what Josh was saying, you can still have relatively good performance with imported 3D shapes. This just requires reducing the number of vertices and polygons in your shapes as shown below. Hopefully you can find the right balance between aesthetics and model efficiency.
