Model using lists to call patients from waiting room

Does anyone have a FlexSim model for Version 20 using List to call patients from waiting room? I want to use the Information in the data of a list to prioritize the sequence of patients taken to a procedure.

Thanks,

Tee

OK, no takers on using List tables. Does anyone have a model with a process for getting patients into the model in other than FIFO?

I'm talking about out-patient clinics where almost all patients are scheduled to arrive at a specific time but actually come in a distribution around that scheduled time. In fact, a patient can arrive before a prior patient's scheduled time.

Thanks,

Tee

Take a look at about the 14 minute mark of this Patient Arrivals video where I cover the Variability field of the Date Time Source activity. I think it's exactly what you want for getting patients to arrive early or late to their appointments:

Hi @Cliff King

Thanks for the response but I not talking about when the patient checks in, I looking at when the patient actually get called to receive service. Generally, patients check-in, go to the waiting room and, some time later, are called back for service. It is my understanding that patients are in the waiting room in order of arrival, not in order of scheduled time. If the order in the waiting room is not changed, the patients will be processed in order of arrival without relation to order of schedule. This is the approached we have been using in our flexsim models for years.

But now I have a process with a Scan requiring some 50 minutes. If a patient arrives just before his appointment time, that appointment time could be taken by a patient who arrived 60 minutes early for a later appointment.

After studying the use of Lists in the current versions for Flexsim, it seems to me that these Lists might be a tool for helping with the decision of when to call a patient back. At least, it could provide a better understanding of that segment of the process.

I plan on examining this approach in the model I'm working on now. I was hoping that someone had used this in a model that I might use as a guide.

I still need to get the model running and to get more realistic data into it. I'm still having trouble getting the patient into that model.

Thanks for your interest in the aspect of simulation in healthcare.

It sounds like you're going to have a try at implementing something with lists.
