Allen-Bradley CPU path

We are using a CompactLogix Allen Bradley PLC that has a bunch of tags we want to read into our FlexSim model. Our computer with the model is plugged into the PLC using ethernet. I know we are connected to the PLC because we are running a Kepware server that is actively reading and writing to that PLC. When I try to connect in FlexSim, however, none of these tags pop up. When I search for tags a dialog pops up that just says Searching for Tags…

I believe the problem has something to do with the CPU path. I have googled and tried lots of different paths, but none of these paths seem to be right.

Here's some documentation on paths I found. http://app.koerr.com/main/system/help/index.html?allen_bradley_connection_paths.htm

Looks like the paths section is expecting something like "1,0" or even "1,3,3,41", but it would depend on your setup.

I don't have any way of testing this out, so hopefully this will help get you on the right track.

Hey @Joshua S,

Thanks for replying. I read through that documentation to find something new, however our CPU path should be pretty simple because we are just connecting straight from our PLC to a laptop using Ethernet.

We are using an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5380 controller. We are using the Ethernet port (A2). I have already made this connection with another software and the CPU path was just 1,0.

This doesn't work for FlexSim and I am wondering if it is a bug. Has anyone successfully used an Allen-Bradley Connection in FlexSim and how did they connect to their PLC? I noticed that in your user manuals it doesn't even have an Allen-Bradley Connection as an option for a type of connection, even though it is available in the actual software.

I think we updated the documentation recently to include the option for Allen-Bradly Connections. We don't know of any user that have used the Allen-Bradley emulation connection at all, but I can ask around. We don't have hardware to test with so I'll see what options we have to debug this issue.
