Flexsim21.0.2

Felxsim 21.0.2 version crashes suddenly every 20 to 30 minutes. It has been happening very frequently. I have checked with my colleagues in my team and they are facing the same issue. I would appreciate if the Flexsim team can look into this. It was not happening that often with Flexsim 20 version.

We are losing our work more often and hence needs to save every 3 to 5 minutes with Flexsim 21.0.2

Hi @Sri K2, we're all using 21.0 internally, mostly the latest 21.0.3, and have not had this issue. Nor have we heard of this from other clients. It may be something unique to either your model/module/userlibrary, or to your company's hardware (if you and your colleague are on standardized hardware and drivers).

Since you cannot share your files, here are a few questions and suggestions to move us further toward a solution:

  1. Have you encountered this issue when building a model from scratch in 21.0.3? Or is it only older, upgraded models that crash?
  2. Do your colleagues that are having this issue share the same model files, modules, user libraries, hardware, or driver versions? If so, you'll have to do some internal testing to start isolating those components to see if you can narrow down the issue to one of those sources. Try testing on different hardware/drivers. Try starting a new model from scratch instead of loading an old model. Things like that could help you narrow the problem down to a particular model, module, library, or driver, which would then give us the next step in the debug process.
  3. FlexSim 2021 is 64-bit only. Were you using 64-bit previously in FlexSim 2020?
  4. Do your computer systems meet FlexSim's latest system requirements? Are you doing anything like running on virtual machines, thin clients, or remote access?
  5. Do the crashes happen when running the model, or editing the model? (or both)? If during editing, can you pinpoint an activity you're doing at that time, or does it seem more random? If during a model run, you many need to make your model repeatable and debug.
  6. Have you watched task manager as your model runs? As an A-star grid continues to grow, it could end up needing a lot of RAM. We've seen some clients who have kilometers wide grids with meter resolution, which can be taxing on normal computer systems as the number of nodes grows into the millions. Watch task manager as you use your model and note your resource utilization.

You can also call our office for direct phone or web-meeting support.

Without being able to duplicate the problem, or without additional information, we will not be able to offer much more advice.
