Hi @Marzia C,

I would recommend consulting Data Gathering Strategies (flexsim.com) in the FlexSim documentation, along with related pages.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any more specific questions. Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

Thank you so much for directing me to that resource. I did not find my answer there ( I might miss it). I am aware of comparing current state model outputs with simulation model outputs as a validation process. In my case, it will be unnecessary since my objective is to compare different conceptual design models of an emergency room.

For my hypothetical/conceptual model, historical data will be used as input. Apart from checking errors, verifying operational flow, and sensitivity analysis, what are the other ways to validate the model?

Thank you.

Hi @Marzia C,

In addition to the page I directed you to previously, I would recommend looking through Model Repeatability (flexsim.com). This page lists several ways to make your model repeatable to enable you to validate the model. Since you're testing hypothetical layouts, there isn't really a way to determine if the model output data is "correct" since there's not a benchmark to compare those results to. So, I would say that the best way to validate your model is to make sure it is repeatable and to visually inspect the model to ensure the model behavior matches what is expected.

I would also recommend looking at the other pages under the "Simulation Best Practices" section in the documentation. There are a lot of good tools/resources there that can help you decide how to validate your model.

Please let us know if you have further questions!
