Can anyone explain why the worker doesn't follow the mandatory path ? Please see model.prefered-path.fsm

The problem is that your operator isn't set to use the mandatory path. If you click on it and go to Quick Properties, you will see this:
By checking that box, the operator will be set to use the mandatory path.
I noticed a few other issues in your model that you might run into. If it tells you that the mandatory path doesn't exist, just delete it and add a new one and it should work fine. Also, you may want to remove Queue1 and Queue2 from A* since having them as a part of A* can cause a problem with items teleporting to the other queue.
