CheckInPES1 doesn't come to Registration Desk promptly.

uab-clinic-master-model-caregivers_4.fsm

in the attached model, the CheckInPES1 is scheduled to start shift at 7:30 AM along with the CMA's. The CMA's do start at 7:30 and clean the rooms. Apparently, the CheckInPES1 is available because a patient and companions go to the check-in desk, check-in and leave the desk about the time the CheckInPES1 arrives at the desk in the CheckInPES1 is owned by the patient while walking to the check-in desk.

thanks

I don't quite understand why there are 2 activities out of the Check-in box (left and below).

I took one of them "PES walk to patient" and I put it in the Check-In box and it works. See picture.

It's not perfect but it works. You could improve this by changing the Destination.

Also, don't know why you have a duplicate "Pat/comp walks to reg". One in the box and one of the box.

Hi, @Patrick Cloutier. Thanks for your prompt and helpful response to my question.

In trying to learn all about FlexSim, it has been my impression that when a staff is off-duty and that off-duty ends the staff automatically returns to the reset position. It seems that with this model I was wrong.

As far as the 2 activities out of the check-in Container box. It has been my understanding that activities in the flowchart that don't have a input connection have no effect on the model.

If you can help help me make sure I understand These 2 concepts, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again

Tee

@Tee Hiett Staff members will return to their reset position whenever they're released (by a patient or timetable) if they are idle. However, in your model a patient acquires CheckInPES1 as soon as she is released by the timetable. So she doesn't do her automatic travel because she's immediately acquired.

Yes, activities without an input connection won't affect the model.

@Tee Hiett I thought that you thought that the activities outside the Check-In box (with no input) were in use in your model.

Sometimes, when I'm trying to develop a model, I will pull an activity from an Activity just to try to understand exactly is happening.

Thanks for the help.
