I usually try to design and balance a system to reflect an Overall operator utilization metric to about 75-80%.
But I have not been doing this long and was wondering what some more Experienced Flexsim users Design their system to reflect in terms of Operator state metrics?
You're about right, higher than 80% is often considered to be excessive.
However it depends on the level of detail of your tasks - if a task's duration already accounts for multiple subtasks with some small breaks in the subtask sequence then you could be overestimating the utilization by recording them at 100% for the whole task. If you already have full detail and are happy this isn't the case, then approaching 80% would be reasonable.
