Experimenter and OptQuest- find best qty AGVs

Dear FLEXSIM Team,

I am writing to inquire about instructional materials for the Experimenter and OptQuest. Besides the example, optimization of object locations, demonstrated on the online tutorial website, we would like to know if there are other in-depth tutorials that we may reference. To be more specific, we wonder how we can maximize or minimize the numbers of AGVs or operators given machines’ certain efficiency, capacity or utilization by using FlexScript or in-built modules.

We are curious about that mainly because we lately have customers with demand for multi-scenario designs and optimization.

Thank you for your patience and time. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello @Steven Chen, I am not aware of any additional tutorials regarding the experimenter/optimizer. However, it certainly is possible to set up an experiment/optimization to determine the optimal numbers of operators, AGVs, etc. Basically anything that you can set as a parameter can be the input variable for an experiment, and any performance measure can be the output. In the tutorial you referred to, the input was the positions of the processors, and the output was the throughput of the system. While there aren't many logical choices for the output in the case of the tutorial, the input definitely could have been the number of operators, the processing time, or something else.

I'm attaching a model I built that has the number of AGVs as a parameter and the system throughput as an output. Hopefully, this serves as an example of another possibility with the experimenter.

Hi! I am having the same problem but I'm using FlexSim 2020. Would you mind to send a version of Flexsim 20.1 for my reference? Thanks a lot!
