How to connect FlexSim VR demo model to Oculus Quest 2?

@Phil BoBo

I have purchased Oculus Quest 2 and received it right now.

I registered facebook and can normally view any screen in oculus quest 2.

But I can't connect Oculus to any FlexSim and it's VR demo models introduced by you.

I should install an application for connecting to FlexSim?

Or any other setting needed for connecting with each other?

I need your detail explanation.

Hi @David Seo,

Have you used an Oculus Link cable to attach your Quest 2 to your PC?

Yes. I used Cable to connect Oculus Quest 2 and could view FlexSim model.

Using 2021.2.4 edition, I could link FlexSim desktop to Oculus Quest 2 via Air Link connection (wifi) without cable connection.

The method is simple as the way setting 'Air Link' to be ON in the headset

Go to https://www.oculus.com/setup/ to download the OculusSetup.exe software for your PC.

After installing the Oculus software on your PC, it will walk you through connecting your Oculus Quest 2 headset to your PC using either an Oculus Link cable or a similar high-quality USB 3 cable.

It will step you through enabling Oculus Link within your Quest headset.

Once you configure everything so that the Oculus software is running on your PC and rendering in your headset using Oculus Link, then you can press the VR Mode button within FlexSim to start rendering FlexSim in the connected Oculus Quest 2 headset.

The Oculus software environment is split into two separate interfaces with two separate sets of apps and games: the "Quest" wireless apps and the "Rift" wired apps. You have one interface when using an Oculus Quest headset in wireless mode and a different interface when connected to a PC using Oculus Link. You can use the Oculus Quest 2 headset hardware to access both interfaces. You must be using the PC "Rift" interface using Oculus Link in order for FlexSim to render directly to the connected headset from your PC.

Thanks you Bobo and Ben.

I finished to connect them each other by your guide. Thank you.

Oculus Quest 2 shows smart visual shapes more detail in flexsim model and is very good for FlexSim VR demo.

My customer will think waht they can do using it in their business and job.

I will do also.

Thank you again.

P.S

In your country customers, do you have a example usage of it or which application in their business with FlexSim?

@Phil BoBo

Can't FlexSim use "Quest" wireless interface for flexsim model?

Rendering speed not permissable?

The default Quest wireless interface does not run PC applications. It runs apps that have been compiled directly for the hardware. FlexSim is not an Android app that has been compiled to install from the Oculus Store; it is a Windows application that must run on a PC.

You can use the Virtual Desktop VR app to wirelessly stream from a PC to a Quest headset. Using Virtual Desktop, you can open FlexSim and enable VR Mode to stream it from your PC to the wireless Quest headset.

I've run FlexSim in VR Mode on a wireless Quest headset using Virtual Desktop. It is more laggy than a direct connection, but it works.

Additionally, Oculus Quest has an experimental setting for wireless Oculus "Air" Link. Connect your PC to a router via ethernet and connect the Quest to the same router wirelessly. Then enable wireless Oculus Air Link in the experimental settings. Once you are connected to the PC Rift interface, try turning on VR Mode in FlexSim.

The wireless Oculus Link setting didn't work correctly with my headset and network when I tried it. My headset was unable to find my PC (possibly because I have a Quest 1 and not a Quest 2).

Hi @Phil BoBo, Oculus Quest 2 with Air Link works fine with wlan ac. I set my wlan exclusively to connect oculus device and wlan transmitter. The transmitter is in the same 1Gbit LAN segment as my computer. In a view days I will test it with an ax transmitter.
