Screen share performance

Hi good morning,

As part of my job, I need to regularly share models with remote stakeholders to obtain their feedback.

When I share screen via our conference call software, they see the model running but with low fps and jumps between frames. This makes their experience very annoying.

In my computer however the simulation runs smoothly. I have tried lowering my native resolution down to the minimum before sharing screen, but it does not improve their experience.

Could you please let me know what options exist to improve screen sharing performance for those observing remotely?

Please clarify some influencing factors:

Which conferencing application are you using?
What is your PC processor?
Does your PC have discrete graphics and what type?
Is FlexSim set to use the discrete graphics card?
Can you normally share video (eg YouTube) at the same resolution with decent frame rates?
What is you internet upload speed when you perform a speed test?

If your PC is using graphics acceleration on the CPU for both video compression and rendering FlexSim then I can image it might cause a problem.

What is your PC processor? HP Z-Book, Intel Core i7-10850H @ 2.7Ghz

I don't know how to check what FlexSim is using. Could you assist?

Yes, youtube watches decently.

You can add Flexsim in the system settings as a desktop app if it's not already there and then choose options to see the setting for both graphics types - you should set it to use the QuadroT1000 if it's not already.

The youTube question was about sharing a video from your desktop with others in Amazon Chime, can they see that okay?

If the data transmission is your bottleneck, a better graphic card won’t only slightly improve your smoothness. It will support scaling a video stream by decoding and encoding the stream data format. But the number of parallel processed streams may be limited. If you want to test it now, you can reduce the resolution of your screen to be equal with your camera or the limit of stream resolution.
