Custom 3D shapes format

I'm working on a model and trying to import some 3D shapes to customize the cranes and AGVs as needed. I have .step files and they are something like 50MB. I was wondering what format does flexsim handle better in this way. Maybe .stl that is only a 3D object.

Does the size of the file unimproves the way the model works?

The step file format is an ASCII format that contains unordered entities that have to be parsed and triangulated. This is a very slow process, especially for large files. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_10303-21#Criticism

Try converting your shapes into another 3D shape format instead, such as obj, fbx, or jt.
