FlexSim freezes when using GIS module

Hello, all.

We have received a report from our customer that FlexSim freezes as soon as he tries to implement the contents of Working With GIS Navigation.

The PC meets the minimum requirements, CPU is Intel Core i5, RAM is 16 GB, and the simulation without GIS is working fine.

Internet connection is also no problem.

What are the possible causes?

I see the question is marked as 22.0.5, but can you confirm the version that the customer is using? There was a bug with our HTTP implementation, which GIS uses, but that has been resolved for most customers. Customers should always download the latest bug fix version available.

Thanks for your reply. I checked and I am sure it is 22.0.5. Is it correct to say that updating to 22.0.8 may improve the situation?

The latest LTS release is 22.0.9. Unless they have centralized deployment with limits on the update frequency, a customer should always use the latest bugfix release.

Minimum system requirements are possible problems. There are many reasons a model require more physical RAM than any other. GIS data tiles contain a huge amount of information. Maybe you can restrict the level of detail you need in your download.


By default setup you are loading tiles of gis data into your system and you may do this repeatingly. This causes traffic and any participating institution can limit this transferred amount of data, until it seems a system freezes. While you explore the capabilities of a gis driven application, please try to work with a limited local copy of gis data. Later in productive usage sign a license to buy needed data.

Understood. If the behavior improves when "Server URL" in "GIS Navigator Properties" is set to blank, am I correct in assuming that traffic is the likely cause?
