What is the difference between idle and allocated idle?

"Allocated Idle" is the default that is used when a task executer has been assigned a task sequence (it is not freely available), but there is currently no pending task in that sequence. Or in other words, while the TE is waiting for more tasks to be added to the task sequence.

If you create a task sequence in Process Flow, you can actually change which state is used in this case.

I think it's also used when the TE is waiting at a sync task in a coordinated task sequence.
