What are some reasons a model may run slow?

I'm working on a model that seems to get progressively slower as I run. The model is a small production cell with a 3D model that exists simply as a visual (ie none of the logic controlling the model is on any of the 3D stuff). The controlling logic is all contained in the Process Flow. I do not have a large CAD file and I actually just deleted it all together when I was trying to make it run faster but that made no noticeable difference because it was so small to begin with. When I look at the event list it doesn't appear very long.

So I am wondering what are there some other things I can look for that could be causing the model to run slow?

@Anna Kamphaus This question includes some concepts relating to model speed, but we could also take a look at your model to see what might be slowing it down.

@Anna Kamphaus If a model contains confidential information you can either post it to a private question or email it to a member of FlexSim Technical Support. If it is does not contain proprietary information you can attach it here.
