Patient Stuck

The simulation works fine until about the 17th or 18th patient comes in and no one moves anywhere anymore.

At this point, the Paramedic has finished Triage, and the FlowTech should be escorting to an open Exam Room. I've ran this track by itself, and it works fine. For some reason, when these patients come in, it bottlenecks and no one moves. All Exam Rooms are available. I've checked the flowchart and all the steps and it moves properly. The Paramedic and FlowTech all say waiting for Task, the person in the Chair State says ReceivingIndirectCare.

How can I get my patient to move? Or what other troubleshooting tips do you recommend?

Your patient has no current activity listed under their name. You probably have an issue with your Predecessors or Next Activities that is not correctly starting the next activity.

I checked my predecessors and next activities and they are both correct. If I run that patient by itself, using its LeanTrack, then it moves from the model perfectly.

I noticed that it gets stuck when the ExamRoom is taken and the patient is waiting for its availability, but once it is cleared, the FlowTech never comes to escort the patient to the ExamRoom.

Well, if you post your model I can take a look at it, but in the picture that patient is not currently doing an activity so they're not even trying to go anywhere.

You have a decision point that chooses which activity to start based off the first available location in a list. When all of your listed locations are unavailable the decision point doesn't start any activity. The patient then sits in the triage area forever.

Instead of using a decision point like this I would just use the Based on Destination Status option in the Patient Destination field to list out the 3 areas you want to send the patient to. This way the patient will stay on that activity until they finally get to one of the 3 areas. At that point you can just use the Based on Patient's location options for any fields that vary by location in the next activities. Or you could have a decision point at that point that chooses the next activity by patient's location.

Ok got it! Then I would have to change my Activity Type to Escort Patient > Process correct? Since a Decision Point activity type does not allow for Based on Destination Status. And then it will also help me cut down on the number of operations on this track by using that same logic, and applying it to my next operations. Thank you so much!
