Linear Programming and FlexSim

Hi

I have been involved in the shipping industry for some years and I am currently undertaking a DBA thesis. Unfortunately I am neither versed in Linear Programming and new to FlexSim. I am desperately looking for somebody / a tutor who can help / assist.

FlexSim does have an optimizer, but it generally solves problems with evolutionary algorithms, rather than with linear programming. The interface provided in FlexSim does not allow the user to control the algorithm in any way; you can only specify inputs, outputs, objectives, and constraints. The optimizer (we use OptQuest) then solves the problem as it sees fit.

As far as being new to FlexSim, I recommend the tutorials. If you have a specific question, you can post it here.

Hi @mahendra R,

First of all you should understand the way Flexsim works very well. We already used FlexSim and Scilab, Matlab, Lindo, Lingo and CPlex to handle LP optimization & simulation analysis. You should know how to work with DLLs inside FlexSim. I'm very sure that FlexSim can work with others optimization tools since we already did it for projects. Good Luck!
