Transfer item on conveyors not centered

Hello,

one part of my model is supposed to look similar to what is pictured below.

There is one feeding conveyor that conveyors the items not centered because the first part of the conveyor has a roller skew angle of 5.

The item then stops at the photo eye and is suppose to go up or down depending on a destination label.

The problem I'm having is that I need the items to convey on one side of the conveyor right away and not starting in the center of the conveyor. (similar to my problem here: old FlexSim Forum)

I used to be able to work around it using a skew angle of 90 and -90. But FlexSim only allows values between -45 and 45 now.

So is there a way the items travel on the skinny conveyor, until they are stopped at the photo eye and then have a smooth transfer up or down travelling on one side of the conveyor?

I got it to work now by moving the entry transfers to the side of the conveyer and changing its position dynamically, considering the size of the item.

I attached an example.

Hello Anna,

if the standard transfers don't work, I use a processor with animation to accomplish the behavior.

@Anna Lisa Dierking

You can make items translated to the side-edge to use 'Decision Point' object on the conveyor and On Arrival trigger you can make items translated using Pick option menu of Movement > Translate Items.

Thank you @david.seo but that is not what I am looking for.

When the item moves from the skinny conveyor to one of the side conveyors, the item uses the center to enter the conveyor. I can use a decision point there to move it over, but it does not make for a smooth transfer, since the item has to go to the photo eye with its leading edge and then move over to the side conveyor.When I use the decision point, the item looks a bit "jumpy", because it "jumps back to enter the side conveyor centered.

@Anna Lisa Dierking

Did you use the transfer distance or time control not jumpy?

I use "translate item over time" but time = 0, since the Item should be on one side right away when it enters the conveyor

I'm sorry, I don't understand that.

Here is a snippet of my old model where I used skew angle = 90. I want my new model to behave like this when it comes to transfering an item from one coveyor to an upper/lower one.

The only difference: in my new model the items are conveyed on one side of the skinny conveyor due to skew angle = 5.

Are you able to upload a model so we can better understand how to fix your problem?
