Experimenter Hangs Up

Hi, Can anyone help me with this. The model was working fine a couple of weeks ago. Nothing have changed in the mean time. But now when I run the experimenter it hangs up and locks. I can run the model in the modelling space and output data. But need the experimenter for the 32 run iterations. Any one have any ideas?

This is for one of our users in New Zealand and I can't think of anything that might cause the issue.

Unfortunately, the model is not shareable but here's what I know so far.
- There are 32 scenarios set up in Experimenter, but with single replications
- Can still run individual runs but Experimenter fails
- Mostly fluid library used
- Neither FlexSim or the model has been updated but Experimenter worked last week but doesn't now


I don't know much about the model yet and we're running a bit blind because of the secure nature of the model but if anyone has found Experimenter crashing for no reason then I would appreciate some hints on why.

Does it run some of the iterations? Do they stop around the same timestamp? Does it run well for some iterations but not others?

It just hangs up (not responding), then when you let windows try to repair it, the red bar shows up, but 0% CPU activity and it just does nothing.

Can you eliminate all the scenarios except the first 1 and run it, and let us know if it fails the same way?

Presumably the experimenter is accessing an external file but not getting through a firewall.

@Joshua - Given that FlexSim is about to close for the evening and Tony needs an urgent resolution. I would appreciate a quick review of issues relating to Experimenter not getting through a firewall. i.e. is there any instance where experimenter breaches a firewall without external files and/or how to get access to data


@tony - can you import the data into the model to access from there?

Hi, tried it on a different machine.

Looks like the experimenter is trying to get through the firewall and the firewall is blocking it. Why does the experimenter need to get through a firewall?

So the Experimenter is built to accommodate communicating with Amazon's servers, so it is built upon network protocols. It sets up an internal server which is tripping your networks security. You will need to talk to your IT and see if they can help you out with allowing it to pass.
