How to create a window in the wall?

Hello,

How to create a window in the wall? I tried to insert a plane object and BasicFR object on the wall and set their properties to be transparent. But doesn't work.

Regards.

You could change the texture applied to the wall and use a texture with a transparent square. For example, I made this texture with a transparent square in the center:

And applied that texture to one section of a wall object:

Thank you @Matthew Gillespie for the reply.

In fact, I have the version 19.0.0 of FlexSim where I can't unfortunately apply your proposed solution.

Regards.

This solution works fine for me in 19.0.5, what problem did you run into exactly?

Hi @sara S2,

This is not a default functionality within FlexSim because windows typically aren't utilized in most simulation environments. That said, I understand it's sometimes important to have good aesthetics in models.

In the example below, I used a wall as a window because you can control the transparency by default for walls. Surrounding the wall, I placed regular planes that were rotated and adjusted to size. You could also change the texture on the wall if you wanted so it didn't look like faint bricks. This is tedious, but it's about the best solution I could come up with.
