How to use draw surrogate correctly?

Hi,

I'm trying to create some animations where I need to use the "draw surrogate" function. I have already created a sample lifting animation containing a component (Animation37), which I tried to associate with the box flowing through the processor, but after starting the simulation, although the operator performs the animations, the box doesn't respond. Does anyone know where I'm making a mistake?

I attach the model. Please help.

Sylwia

@phil.bobo , there was a detailed example or tutorial to animate an item in a processor in a past version of FlexSim, 16 or maybe 7.7. Does this tutorial exists in a video or other web content? Or is it allowed to copy this chapter from the old manual in FlexSim, because there was described to use exactly animation variables?

Yeah, it looks like the old User Manual (versions before 17.2) had a couple of Animation Creator tutorials:

I've attached them here as pdf files:

Tutorial - Basic Animation Creator Concepts.pdf

Tutorial - Advanced Animation Creator Concepts.pdf

The UI may be slightly different in newer FlexSim versions, but the concepts should be the same.

You need to set your "CubeSurrogate" animation variable to point to the item.

This looks more like a construction of a machine than a material flow model. Most CAD programs have features to animate views. They interpolate one state to a different view over time. You can create an animation in FlexSim. Then you need shapes of involved moveable and static components. The mentioned PDF files contain tutorials to animate 3D shaped drawsurrogate objects.
