Flexsim model crashing - Even without running the model

Hi,

I have a model, sorry can't share, that keeps crashing when model is Reset, Saved, or Run. I followed this link to workout if I am missing anything. But nothing seems to help me out. Is there a way I can debug to see what is causing my model to crash.

P.S. - all my other models work fine.

Hi @prashant.t2,

It's hard to know how to help without looking at your model. To receive a more accurate solution, please post your model or a sample model that demonstrates your question.

Proprietary models can be posted as a private question visible only to FlexSim U.S. support staff. You can also contact your local FlexSim distributor for phone or email help.

@PT2 , you can't run the model at all, and that is why the suggestions at the link you included are not helpful?

Please describe your crash in greater detail. Does FlexSim just disappear? Does it become unresponsive and just hang?

My best guess is that the issue is in some reset logic. The save button resets the model. If you run immediately after opening a model, I believe it also resets before running. So reset is the common denominator.

You could try putting breakpoints in any custom reset logic.

Try that and let us know what else you find, in addition to greater description about the crash and anything else you can think to share.

So, after spending a LOT of time to determine the cause of crash, I recreated the model. It was literally a copy and paste. The interesting thing is the model that crashes is 96MB and this new model is only 3.4MB. I wonder is there anything funny going on in the model that has caused the size of the simulation model go to 96MB. Can you think/suggest anything?

Thanks

Without viewing the two models, there isn't really any way to know what was different or causing the issue.

The file sizes suggest that the first model had some problem where data or objects were being put somewhere it shouldn't have. But again, total speculation without the models.

Good job getting a working model, and good luck with your further simulation efforts!

The model was crashing because it had 1.66 GB of text within the System Console. The next time an exception happened and it tried to write that data to the System Console, it took long enough that the program crashed.

Closing the System Console window and reopening the views solved the issue.
