Are there any possibilities to take better control of the routing of the AGV. We have a big model with a grid layout. At certain places there are multiple paths next to each other in the same direction. Because we are working with a grid there are multiple option to go to a destination. In the example below you see two of such possible routes (from the green circle to the yellow circle):
Since rotating on the spot takes 6 seconds it is best to take the green route. However FlexSim takes the red route which takes 12 seconds longer. In this situation I could give the red vertical path a higher weight than the green vertical path. But it can also be that the AGV in coming from the bottom right and needs to go to the top left. So working with weights won’t solve this issue. We are more or less looking for a penalty for taking a turn. Is something like this possible? Or are there other solutions?
