AGV vs Conveyour

Hey eveyone ,

i am new to flexsim. i was trying to make simple model with two different mode of transport one use AGV and One using Conveyour. In the attached model i have Problem in AGV. As you can see i assigned one agv to each machine and i used each dispatcher for every machine. i used nodes so that agv should not collide.I was trying to use one dispatcher for all machines and Random AGV for machines in the end input in final sink was very low as compare to conveyour one. In the attached model final output from last machine in case of AGV with node is 2258, with conveyour is 2285 and with AGV without node is 818(which is very low as compare to other two). My doubt, is it necessary to assign one AGV to one machine in order to compete with conveyour. or is it possible to assign AGV to particular machines by put some logic in trigger. In the end in my attached model there is any other possiblity to maximize the final output?

Hello Puneet,

Conveyor model will always give you the maximum throughput.

  • In AGV model, you need each AGV to come back from the successor station to preceding station to pick up the part. During this movement, if part is not send to other station, it gives you the blocked status, due to which you aren't able to get more output in AGV
  • In conveyor there isn't similar activities of moving back to such station, so there will never be any blocking

  • Conveyor speed is 1m/s where as AGV speed is 1.7 m/s
  • If you will create buffers before each station in AGV models, you will get the max. throughput

@Trex Thanks for your Time and Response.From Buffer Term how much i understand is to put a queue before each station. i made this and output become almost double. but still is far enough as compare to conveyor one. I attached model with changes if you can check i made it fine or still there is more possibility to do something more in this.
