Processor OEE

Hi @tanner.p,

In reference to the following question: https://answers.flexsim.com/questions/86956/change-processor-processing.html

I am looking to make the processor OEE to be 80%.

I know that OEE is calculated from availability %, performance% and quality %. In my consideration, I would like the quality to remain at 100%, but be able to vary both the availability % and performance %. Would you be able to help me understand how to vary these two parameters, either individually or together?

Thanks!

@natasha.dg,

Thanks for the details in the question. I think there are ways to calculate each of the three OEE elements. Quality is the easiest, as you can add a label on items that are "bad" quality based on percentages.

To model availability, I suggest using MTBF/MTTR. It's a tool that can be found in the toolbox. You can define the up and down times based on set values or distributions that will simulate the machine stopping/starting. This will account for things like micro-stoppages and other unplanned events that affect availability. More about the MTBF/MTTR tool can be found here.

The performance metric can be modeled by adjusting the Process time such that it follows a distribution or percentage. There are many ways to do this. A few options exist in the picklist next to Process Time in the Processor properties. For example, instead of using a process time of 10, you can have a distribution with a mean process time of 10 and a standard deviation of 2.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any clarifying questions.
