Why when I connect the Oculus Rift to my computer the screen turns gray?

I have my Oculus Rift connected to the computer and everything works fine. But when I put the headset on the screen on the computer, the area were my model is, turns gray and nothing is visible.

Is there a System Preference I´m missing? The last couple of times I tried it on I could see both on the Headset and the Computer.

If you can view the model in the VR headset, then VR is working. Whether the mirrored display on your laptop screen is rendering or not may be a result of your system configuration, graphics driver, and oculus runtime. I wouldn't worry about it one way or the other. You could try updating your graphics driver as explained in Graphics Compatibility - Common Problems and Solutions
