Initial stock pallets floor storage

Hello everyone,

I am currently modelling a floor storage in particular the picking phase. I would like to start the model with an initial stock on racks. In particular i would like to stock pallets of scantlings in the floor storage based on their lenght. I created different item type in the item bin according to scantling lenght. The problem is that i would like to pack those scantlings in a pallet in 0 time and stock them on the floor storage by layers. One pallet can stock 12 levels of scantlings and 14 scantlings per layer so in total 168 panels. I currently have a problem to stack the 168 panels in one pallet with the combiner. Using the model i attach below the combiner send three pallets to the first rack. How can i avoid this?

I would like to add the other panels with different lenght and stack them in different pallets according to their lenght or product code(i assigned those labels when i created the flowitem bin) , so i would like to avoid packing panels with different lenght in one pallets. Each pallet has to stack same lenght panels. How can i model this? Should i attach different sources and combiners for each different panels?

Below my model attached

How would you do it, if you have to build model? That is what I would do. All happening at time 0 or in a Warmup time.

Thanks Jörg, but i have a problem to assign a panels with a particular lenght to a single pallet. And also i don´t know how to stack one pallet with scantlings over another one in the rack. Do you know how to model to start with a situation like this?

There different approaches to cope with it,

  • set location of container in rack.
  • set container object height and adjust shape height of pallet. It is one of involved stacking methods of pallets. You will find it in the properties of items in Flow Item Bin.
  • move items and adjust height of pallet shape and size of pallet.
  • Edit: please consider to abandon the idea to pack each panel on a pallet. Maybe you can visualize the block by a surrogate object of the animation creator and store only the amount of panels as a label value.
