If you can, I would suggest exporting your drawing as a dwg, FlexSim has some issues with dxf files.

Hi @Dillan J,

I was able to import your .dwg file into a model. I had to be patient as it took a while to load (around 10 minutes, I just got other things done), but once in, it works fine. You have to be patient and let FlexSim work on importing it, even though FlexSim is totally unresponsive during that time.

One reason that it takes a long time to load is the 3D objects that are included in the .dwg. I'm guessing they have an extremely high polygon count, and thus slow down the importing and drawing of the layout. I have highlighted them with red boxes in the screenshot above.

If you open the .dwg file in your CAD software and remove those 3D objects - the orange machines, red spirals, and black text box - you will likely have much greater success importing and using the drawing in FlexSim.

It's possible that your computer needs upgraded graphics drivers to properly show the drawing, or your computer may be slower loading the file than my computer. But in either case, simplifying or removing the 3D geometry in the drawing file will most likely fix the issue.

I've attached the model where I imported your drawing file. It also takes my PC around 10 minutes to load this model (due to the drawing), but once loaded, my graphics card handles it fine with a decent refresh rate (I do have a pretty beefy graphics set up, so if your graphics hardware is older or weaker, the experience might not be adequate).

Let us know if you're able to simplify the drawing and how it goes for you.

Thanks Ben. i have a pretty decent work station so i don't think my graphics card will be the issue. Whats weird is when I try to import the DWG my flexsim does not become unresponsive. If it did i would have waited it out. i will try to import it and let it sit even though it is not freezing on me.

I have imported the file as a Background in FlexSim. It looks like it is 3D Data. I use the Black Color Scheme, then the light gray lines are getting better visual.

In Meter units I can move the main lines with these values to the Workspace Level.

The values in FlexSim with inch unit works too.

I did finally figure out the color scheme, which made it much more visible. When i try and open your fsm it tells me the tree file format is not compatible. i am on flexsim 18.1.1

I tried both models in both versions (i just downloaded 2019) and i cant see the background in the tool box or on the floor. But regardless, i can get a similar model to yours using the scaling tricks you show, but it is still missing some layers. attached is the full dxf i would like to see. so we've solved the scaling and color issues, but im still missing layers. capture.jpg
