lmadmin service crashes on login - the second

Hi,

I currently have the same issue wich was posted by Kenan Aldemir on Jan. 25, 2018.

I installed the License server on a new Windows 10 machine, and when I reach the step to login the website willbecome unavailable and the lmadnin service stops.
EventViewer also shows a foult on module msvcr90.dll (VC++ 2008 Redistributable).

Tried a lot of things, including re-installation of the OS, no success.
Has anyone an idea of how to fix?

Hi @Joerg Goldberg,

Sorry for the trouble you're encountering with lmadmin. As I'm sure you saw on the question you referenced, we never found a good solution for whatever Visual C++ Redistributable + lmadmin incompatibility was causing the error. The last word was that deploying a new server cleared up the problem. As you have tried reinstalling the OS already, perhaps the problem is something to do with your particular hardware/drivers.

Here are some other suggestions I've come up with that you might try:

  • Make sure your Windows installation is fully patched with all updates, bugfixes, patches, etc. available through Windows update.
  • After fully patching your Windows installation, try again with lmadmin.
  • If it still doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.
  • Try again with lmadmin.
  • If it still doesn't work, or if you have already done the above, you might try the latest version of lmadmin from Flexera. I have uploaded the installers and supporting documentation for the latest version, 11.16.4.1, here: https://www.flexsim.com/ftp/LicenseServer/FlexNetPublisher/

Hopefully one of the above will work for you. I listed the lmadmin update as the last option since we haven't tested it with FlexSim. I really don't expect any issues. Flexera is usually very conscious of backwards compatibility.
